Linda Rice  1953 - 2022

Linda Rice was the immediate past president 2010-2018 of the North Toronto Business and Professional Women’s Club.

Linda helped us to revitalize the North Toronto BPW Club by creating a website and placing ads in Women's Post, local SNAP magazine and Hi-Rise magazine advertising our meetings and events.

Linda was a staunch advocate of BPW. She went out and looked for opportunities to make the public aware of BPW's aims and objectives.
Linda was truly dedicated to BPW in that since joining in 2003, she had attended all National Conventions and Provincial Conferences either as delegate or observer.

Linda could be seen attending meetings with her mobile office in tow. She was the modern version of "Staples”. She was never without markers, pens, tape, paper clips, staples & staplers as well as tablecloths and various containers to use as props to set a up a display table at a moment's notice.

Linda was honoured with the BPW Ontario Leadership Award  in 2010.

In 2018, she stepped down from her duties at North Toronto to become the BPW Ontario President.

Belonging to BPW since 2003, Linda advocated for women's issues such as pay equity, stopping violence and harassment; child care; missing and murdered indigenous women, preservation of our water resources; housing issues; accessible transportation and care giver benefits, the usual BPW advocacy issues.

In 2018 Linda ran as a Green party candidate in the 2018 federal election and received 127 votes, which was considerable for the Green Party at that time.

Through the generous care of BPW friends and family Linda was able to stay at home and outlive her cancer diagnosis by two and half years.

Rest in peace our dear Linda.
